Fashion has never been short of slogans.
Some are clever. Some are forgettable. Many disappear as quickly as the trends that inspired them.
Every now and then, however, a message arrives that feels refreshingly simple.
Give Love.
That’s the thinking behind the latest solidarity initiative from agnès b., the French fashion house whose founder has long believed that style and social responsibility should go hand in hand.
At a time when consumers are increasingly asking more of the brands they support, agnès b.’s Give Love collection offers a reminder that fashion can be about more than aesthetics. Sometimes, it can be about action.
The initiative is rooted in the work of the agnès b. Endowment Fund, established in 2009 to support organisations tackling some of society’s most pressing challenges, including the fight against AIDS, extreme poverty and the support of displaced people.
The Give Love collection channels that mission into a series of accessible everyday pieces, including cotton bandanas, caps and pins, all carrying a message that requires little explanation.
Importantly, this isn’t a case of charity being added as an afterthought. Profits from sales of the collection will be donated directly to three organisations: Act Up-Paris, the Housing Foundation and Les Restaurants du Coeur, the French charity widely known for providing meals and support to people facing hardship.
It’s a straightforward model that feels increasingly relevant. Buy something you like. Support something that matters.
What makes the collection particularly appealing is its simplicity. These aren’t products designed to shout. The cotton bandana, in particular, taps into one of menswear’s enduring accessories: practical, versatile and quietly expressive. Whether worn around the neck, tied to a bag or tucked into a back pocket, it carries a sense of effortless summer style while also serving a larger purpose.
And perhaps that’s where the collection succeeds most.
Luxury fashion often talks about making a statement, yet the strongest statements are rarely the loudest. Sometimes they’re found in small gestures. A pin on a jacket. A bandana around the neck. A purchase that contributes to something beyond your wardrobe.
For agnès b., whose commitment to activism and philanthropy has been woven into the fabric of the brand for decades, Give Love feels less like a campaign and more like a continuation of a long-held philosophy.
In an industry often focused on what is new, bigger or louder, there is something appealingly timeless about that.
After all, trends come and go.
