Over the last decade of CMTM and us covering our annual Christmas gift guides we’ve seen a number of trends emerge, The Christmas Jumper being a mainstay, the Giving of socks becoming more adventurous. But by far the trend which seems to grown and gain momentum year on year HAS to be the Advent Calendar. When I was young, without wanting to sound like a Grandad, Advent Calendar were a simple thing, in our house, a Nativity scene or maybe of the Great guy himself Good Saint Nick, with 24 little perforated windows on it that you ripped open each morning in December culminating with a double panelled window for 24th which always had a Nativity scene behind it. Over the years the humble Advent Calendar evolved to include a chocolate behind each window, which I genuinely can’t tell you the levels of excitement this created with me in our household !
