Take no Crep from anyone – Crep Project

Crep Project believe fresh starts with the feet, so you need to protect yourself from the feet up at all times. As part of this they have dreamt up The Crep Commandments – the laws and rules you need to know. The laws and rules you need to follow. The laws and rules any sneakerhead keeps in their kicks fresh at all times.

Crep Project was borne, like all great ideas, out of the notion of keeping your Kicks look fresh and pristine for as long as humanly possible.

Crep Project produce how to videos showing and telling, with practically advice utilising the Crep Commandments. In the latest Crep Protect experiment, we see Travis ScottAir Jordan 1 Low take on a bottle of Hersheys Sauce. One would think that this would mean that the Travis Scott trainers could no longer be worn but thanks to Crep Protect this is not the case at all. Watch the below video to see how effective and how powerful Crep Protect is.

Top 5 Streetwear Pieces Of The Month

Words by Dan Ramsdale-Harris

In a new series over here at Clothes Make The Man, we are documenting the top 5 new streetwear pieces of the month, from high end to mid end and the occasional bargain that pops up.

With the annual Supreme spring summer weekly drop schedule recently coming to an end, there’s no better time to show those select hypebeasts some alternatives for their wardrobe.

This month’s feature documents some staple names in the streetwear industry, as well as some upcoming brands who are continuing to make the right noise.

1. HUMAN MADE Military Print Chino

One of the most influential figures in streetwear, Nigo, previously the owner of A Bathing Ape, launched his new Fall/Winter 2019 collection with HUMAN MADE, his most recent brand, earlier this month.

The collection introduced an array of workwear-indebted items that personifies his own personal style.

The absolute grail piece to come from the collection was the Military Print Chino, in an off-white colourway, emblazoned with an array of HUMAN MADE motifs. The pant has a personal touch with the design being hand painted, and comes in a wide-leg fit, equipped with specific iPhone size tool pocket.

2. M+RC Noir Hate Black Denim Jacket

With signs of cooler weather appearing, a denim jacket provides that finishing touch to an outfit, making it go from a solid 6 to a 9.5. This silhouette comes from Parisian based label M+RC noir, a brand that has seen a rapid rise in the last couple of years. Big names such as American rapper Quavo and Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams were spotted in the brands second release of their SS19 collection, creating huge hype before the drop 2 weeks ago.

The jacket consists of an all over laser printed logo detailing, 14oz denim fabric and a 100% cotton finish.

This item is definitely a stand out piece to accompany a host of fits.

3. Unknown London Zip-Up Hoodie

The 3rd instalment comes from a homegrown brand that is making big noise in the streetwear and urban culture scene. Having accumulated a following of just under 30,000 followers in no time, Unknown London have made a quick and authentic impact on the scene.

On the back of 2 successful collection sell outs, the brand finally made a comeback with the first instalment of their SS19 collection 2 weeks ago.

Their Zip Up Hood comes in a hand bleached tie-dye, a flock logo print and an oversized fit, with a450 GSM, 100% heavyweight cotton finish.

4. Stussy Carhartt DSM Vest

Both Stussy and Carhartt have teamed up with Dover Street Market to provide bespoke capsules for the retailers London and LA locations, including both exclusive tees and layering pieces.

The piece we have chosen to highlight from the capsule is the all-black vest, sporting quilted lining and a zippered closure, with both Stussy, Carhartt and DSM branding located on the two chest pockets.

The garment comes in a 100% cotton composition, and is available to buy in-store and online now.

5. Represent Never Comin Down Hoodie

The final instalment of July’s edition comes from U.K based brand Represent’s Fall/Winter 19/20collection.

The item featured is their ‘Never Comin Down Hoodie ‘, coming in a black colourway and a slightly oversized fit in an extra heavyweight loopback cotton. The silhouette also comes softened, pre-shrunk and piece dyed for the ultimate jersey, accompanied by their Fall Winter 19/20 logo printed to the centre of the chest.

A stand out graphic without question, and one of my personal favourite designs out there in the streetwear scene at the minute.

Following on from last week’s blitzing weather it seems we’ve stepped over the summer 2019 hill as it were. Temperatures have cooled and people are returning back to trousers and sweats. In this week’s something for the weekend, we’ve got a few things to provide that gentle return back to much more bearable conditions.

  1. JAMIESON’S OF SHETLAND FAIR ISLE CREW – NATURAL & BLACK – £139.00

Jamieson’s is a UK homegrown family business spanning 5 generations. The business specialises in quality wool from the sheep of Shetland, North Scotland. Founded in the first half of the 1890s by Robert Jamieson. He set up a shop purchasing knitwear from locals and sold the goods on to others on the island. You can picture it easily, these jumpers aside a fire warming its wearer set upon the harsh backdrop of the Shetland Isles. What beautiful scenes you must be thinking of!

Through various changes to the jumpers have come and gone from generation to generation. In 1978 Robert Jamieson’s grandson Bertie and his son Peter experimented with spinning 100% pure shetland yarn. Achieved, this has become the main USP for the brand and with new technologies over the years has allowed them to continue to develop “an increasing range of both traditional and vibrant contemporary colours.”

To shop the jumper above hit the link below, sizes range from a 36-46:

  1. Cargo trousers with drip effect – Khaki – £49.00

Zara’s prominence is undeniably obvious. The retailer was the first in line to help form parent company Inditex. Playing sister or big scary brother probably better put to the likes of Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti and Bershka.

Founded by Amancio Ortega, Zara opened its door’s back in 1975 in Spanish city —A Coruña. Originally creating relatively cheap clothing for the locals, later expanding across Spain. The retailer set out with four core values — Beauty, Clarity, Functionality and sustainability. The latter being fiercely questioned due to rising social pressures. Rightfully so. Therefore it was Music to our ears when we heard that Zara has pledged to use fully sustainable fabrics by 2025.

Whilst many fast-fashion retailers have fallen behind due to the rapidly volatile retail landscape, Zara has seen continued growth through their relatively small stock fast change approach to consumer demands.

Check out the Cargo’s via the link below, ranging from a 30W-36W.

  1. AIMÉ LEON DORE x Timberland Boots – £229.00 down to £149.00

One of our favourite new-ish brands, New-York based AIMÉ LEON DORE has properly blown up into the growing space between streetwear and high end. Price point reflective. The brand’s founder Teddy Santis first wanted the brand to be called AIMÉ but couldn’t get the trademark. The word Leon or Lion in Greek was his father’s nickname. Dore which forms the final part of the brand name equation derives from the founders second half syllable of his name Theodore.

Teddy born in Queens NY, from Greek immigrant descent grew up surrounded by the cultural wonders of the concrete melting pot. In an Interview with END to celebrate the brands, SS18 launch Teddy explained his early experiences.

“I was immersed in graffiti, breakdancing, DJ’ing, basketball, hip-hop and house music, and music as a whole was a major influence while growing up in Queens. Fashion for me, in one way or another, always complimented every aspect of this culture that I enjoyed.”

The brand heavily references New-York aesthetics from pre-2000’s. Both in designs and marketing. Old photo’s spread across their Instagram feed range from retro Michael Jordan locker room pictures to JFK riding in his car. All presented in a highly nostalgic and aesthetically pleasing format. That 20-year-old cycle eh…..

Their only current store boast’s a clean white exterior like something you’d expect Leonardo DiCaprio to walk into in the movie Wolf of Wall Street. The epitome of a classy New-York store from times past. The brand embodies this moment in time so well it seems, cliche in-bound — So Fresh. Alas, its resounding success.

The link to the boots are below and they are also available in a dark blue:

For those Londoner’s reading who haven’t yet been to the new TK Maxx along Oxford Street, I strongly suggest you take a look when you can! They have a huge section of reduced high-end labels from Gucci, Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, Valentino, Versace, Maison Margiela and Stone Island. These just some of the ones I can remember.

Thank you for reading another week of Something For the Weekend!

EYE WEAR – STEPPING UP YOUR ACCESSORY GAME THIS YEAR.

Words by Isaac Perry

Can we all take a minute to pray that the weather this summer in the UK is as amazing as it was last year? Or even better? As we begin to see the sunshine creep through, we all begin to get relatively excited and dust the cobwebs off of our summer clothing but every year I’m sure that many of us will encounter the same problem! Sunglasses. Where the hell did you leave your favourite pair from last year? Simply nobody can remember. Whether you left them in a pub garden whilst chugging some Pimm’s and enjoying a hog roast or they fell off your head whilst watching your favourite band at Glastonbury they are now a thing of the past and you need to get a snazzy new pair.

Sunglasses are an accessory which simply steps up your cool level and can escalate an outfit from a solid 7 out of 10 to at least an 11 out of 10 aha. Keeping it classic is always a good way, to begin with, a pair of Ray-Ban round metal sunglasses 0rb3447. These are incredibly lightweight and have a golden frame which will be sure to stand out against your tanned skin and paired with some dark tinted lenses to protect you against the sun rays what more could you ask for? These glasses were first produced for the U.S Airforce in 1937 (very badass) and have since gone onto become one of Ray-bans most popular silhouettes being sold globally. These can be found on Ray-Ban and other stockists for £105.00.

Secondly, we have the Ray-Ban Clubmaster sunglasses Ord3016 wo366 49. These are a silhouette of sunglasses which everybody would have had in their personal collections at some point. The brown colouring paired with the gold detailing’s are the perfect match, these will definitely go with every outfit and a pair which we at Clothes Make the Man would recommend highly this summer. However, please don’t be that guy who wears their expensive sunglasses on a night out as that is simply a recipe for disaster.

For the more edgy individuals out there don’t worry we have also got you back covered with some of the newest trends in the sunglasses industry. Sunglasses can either turn you into a smooth Casanova or step up your streetwear rating massively with these next two pairs being a must try to achieve your ultimate festival/techno vibe.

Who would’ve thought a couple of years ago that a pair of cycling glasses would be one of the key accessories in the fashion industry huh? For the small price of £12.00 ASOS is offering these Visors. Neon colours have been a trend in the fashion industry which have now been around for a while but now they colours have entered the sunglasses game. These sunglasses are the perfect festival accessory and will definitely make you stand out from the crowd. PS we take no responsibility for any dodgy tan lines which you get from this product.

Top Gear – Hugs & Co TS1 Driving shoes

Tyre Sole Driving Loafer by Hugs & Co. Offers upcycled tyre tread is combined with Italian leather and British design to create the first line of environmentally conscious luxury footwear. Established in 2012 by brothers Benjie and Hugo Davis and is based in London. The brand and the company came about through the Davis brothers’ shared passion for design and creativity. Benjie had studied Architecture and Hugo Business, between them the project unfolded into what is now a popular luxury footwear brand with a versatile collection of styles.

All the components are sourced from suppliers in Europe and the construction of each pair takes place in Portugal and time is dedicated to personally selecting the best leathers in the perfect colours ensuring a product that is not only beautifully crafted but comfortable and long lasting.

Only a fraction of the energy used to produce new sole units is required to convert the waste tyres into usable shoe parts. The upcycled components are not a compromise though, in fact they’re an improvement for the driving loafer style. Adding incredible durability and grip whilst retaining an elegant and classic style has created the next generation of the original hybrid shoe.

Hugs & Co. are proud to introduce the TS1 model ‘the British Driving Loafer’. Bringing a level of functionality to driving loafers that upgrades them into a versatile piece of luxury footwear. Above all these shoes use up unwanted tyres and are more environmentally friendly to make than regular footwear.

Hugo Davis commented “All too often the decision to select environmentally conscious components leads to a compromise in quality, here it actually enhances the product.”
