HO14_NSW_Lunar_Dome_M_3QF_33312[14]Basketball and running favorites from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s are bolstered and re-imagined, with features ranging from rugged interpretations of original outsoles to internal linings that make them as comfortable as their classic counterparts. For this season, time-honored styles and a few new introductions leave the fields, tracks and gyms for which they were originally designed and join the battle against wintry weather.

HO14_NSW_LunarForce1_3QF_M_33314[14]One such interpretation is the iconic Nike Air Max of 1990, built around the idea that “more is more,” ups the ante. This arbiter of air is re-mastered into a highly visible, high-traction, cold weather weapon of choice.

Another is, the Nike Air Trainer SC was designed to endure punishment put forth by the strongest, most powerful athletes of its time. Inspired by the original versionʼs multi- sport functionality, the Air Trainer SC SneakerBoot’s water-repellant leather upper, sticky rubber outsole and reflective Swoosh logo make winter terrain look like another day in paradise.

Taking a bite out of the Apple – 10th Anniversary of Marc Newson for G-Star

Screen Shot 2014-09-25 at 07.25.34With the news of designer extraordinaire, Marc Newson’s appointment as Senior Vice President of Design at Apple, the industrial designer has also released the 10-year anniversary collection of G-Star by Marc Newson. First presented at the London Design Museum earlier this year, the capsule range features twelve limited edition leather jackets, signed by Newson, exclusive to luxury e-tailer oki-ni.com

In a world of one-off collaborations, denim specialist brand G-Star RAW and Australian industrial designer Marc Newson have reasonable cause for celebration. Since 2004, the G-Star by Marc Newson capsule collections have become renowned for their architectural constructions, distinct graphics, streetwear references, and premium fabrications. The 10-year Anniversary Collection is no exception, offering everything and more that fans have come to love from G-Star RAW by Marc Newson.

The collection highlight is the Reversible Tour Jacket. The changeable bomber jacket features a collection of patches that represent the decade’s worth of collaboration graphics. When turned from the silver bowling sateen, a black quilted side is revealed for a minimalist alternative. Newson said at the launch.

The inspiration was simply to identify and focus on what we felt were the iconic motifs over the last ten years and to represent them visually in a single piece, which could itself become iconic within the context of our history.”

An exclusive version of the piece has been created for oki-ni.com. Produced in premium leather, though not reversible, the limited edition 12-piece run are each numbered, and signed by Newson.

The best of Japanese selvedge denim is also, as always, an essential part of the range. Cut to Newson’s take on the traditional 5-pocket jeans, the 5-Pocket Denim Slim, retains workwear inspiration with boxy back pockets and rivet-trimmed front pockets. Newson’s enduring fascination with uniform dressing is also apparent. Designed to be treated like your denim, without ironing or dry-cleaning, the Seven Day Suit features luxury wool pieces to suit every occasion.

Tees and sweats in premium cottons are identifiably G-Star by Marc Newson, with simple yet bold, varsity-inspired artwork. The collection is completed with the Dalm and Nuag prints, an abstracted take on traditional spots and stripes that add intriguing contrast to the cleaner graphics.

The Journey of a Lifetime – J Shoes x Peregrine Collaboration

image001-4The appetite for brands collaborating seems to be endless, the consumer seems to love them, the press moan about them, but sceretly cherish them and brands themselves get so much out of them, its hard to see them ever falling out of fashion.

The latest in the eternal line of these partnership, comes in the shapely form of two Great British brands in Peregrine x J Shoes. Firstly, Peregrine began life back in 1956,  but the manufacturing business at the heart of it, J.G. Glover, dates back to 1772 when Thomas Glover started his knitting business.  Eight generations later the brand still remains with the same family to this very day. Peregrine is the evolution of the Glover family’s dedication to superior knitwear, the company continues to produce high-quality, fashionable clothing made exclusively within Britain. The designers at Peregrine combine classic styles and traditional materials with an innovative aesthetic.

J SHOES was founded in the British Midlands,  its inspired by the centuries of quality shoemaking from the region. Seamlessly blending British heritage, traditional craftsmanship, modern design and independent style – J is an expression of personal taste and individual character. Taking classic silhouettes such as the Brogue or the Chukka, J applies a little unexpected colour, material or texture, to produce timeless shoes that showcase one’s true colours and character, inside and out.

J Shoes stand by their principle of never trying to fit in or conform to fleeting fashion trends. Instead, they takes inspiration from unique personalities and for each season creates shoes that are completely individual to help their customer express their own style and stamp their personality on them.

For this collaboration J Shoes have transform a classic boot into a British heritage design. Combining this with the trademark Dainite soles the menswear inspired style being versatile and classic.

Made in two colours – black leather with blue knit(above) and brown leather with red knit(below), this offers to take a modern spin on classics styles and the Bowden boot is no exception. To accomplish the look , Peregrine have created two contrast panel jumpers in their classic knit.
