Since then he has gone on to the face of some of the biggest names in the fashion world, including Dolce and Gabbana, Versace, Missoni, Vivienne Westwood and Marks & Spencer.

imageIf you had one day to live what would be your biggest regret?

I think my biggest regret would definitely be not eating that piece of chocolate cake! Never turn down cake!

What’s your favourite piece of clothing?

Right now, I think it has to be my M&S pebble dash Derby shoes. They’re so easy to wear and go with everything.

Who is your style icon? Why?

I grew up as a 90’s kid seeing David Beckham everywhere. He took risks with his fashion, and set trends at the same time. He wasn’t scared to try new things. Now he’s a man who knows what looks great and sticks to it.

What piece of style advice do you live by?

Make sure you’re always properly dressed for the occasion and always follow the dress code on the invite.

Can you tie a bow tie? If yes, who taught you?

Embarrassingly, no! I had to look it up on YouTube.

Have you ever bought a piece of clothing and regretted it?

I’m usually quite good and really think about what I want before I buy it. I guess there are trends I wish I hadn’t tried; I’ve worn some pretty OTT printed shirts over the years.

What do you have to do after this conversation?

I’m going to a lovely dinner at the Rosewood hotel, their food is the best.

What would you like to be doing after this conversation?

Having a beer at the Rosewood with dinner and then eating lots of Percy Pigs!

imageWhat track would always get you on the dance floor?

‘Town Called Malice’ by The Jam, definitely my favourite song of all time.

How did you get into the industry, what was your big break?

I was scouted by Select Model Management at 16, they sent my Polaroid’s over to New York and I ended up being booked by Calvin Klein. I was really lucky and my career really took off from there, and I ended up walking (on a catwalk) for some really huge names.

If you could live anywhere where would it be & Why?

Probably New York. The atmosphere is just so cool out there and always buzzing. I have loads of friends out there too so I know I wouldn’t ever get lonely. Other than that I think I’d choose London.

imageFavourite hotel in the world?

It’s between the W in Barcelona (above) or the Maritime in Manhattan, they are two of the most amazing hotels I’ve ever stayed in.

What music are you listening to at the moment?

Stormzy, he won two MOBO awards, I would seriously suggest checking him out.

Best present you’ve ever received?

Pixie (Lott) took me on holiday to Florence once for a Christmas present; that was pretty awesome.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given and by whom?

Nothing is ever as bad as it seems.

Oliver Cheshire is the Face of Autograph at Marks & Spencer

She’s a dedicated follower of Fashion – Lou Dalton X River Island Design Forum

imageThe venues of LC:M were barely cold after the excitement and throngs of stylish and creative folk and while a certain key British Designer was showing her Autumn/Winter 2016 collection, to rave reviews, I may hasten to add, a collaborative collection she had worked on prior was just hitting the stores and website of River Island. The designer in question, is Lou Dalton, the latest Great British luxury brand to work with the River Island Design Forum.

Synonymous with an impressive attention to detail and contemporary aesthetic, Dalton has established herself as a leading light of British Menswear who has the ability to develop exceptional well crafted garments that are both considered and thought provoking.

This collection draws inspiration from photographer Perry Ogden’s book ‘Pony Kids’ and films such as The Rat Catcher and The Selfish Giant, they all tell the stories of working-class children developing personal and working relationships with horses. Lou say of this collaboration;

“I’M A SUCKER FOR DETAIL AND FINISH AND IT WAS INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT THAT WE TRIED TO CAPTURE THIS THROUGHOUT THE CAPSULE COLLECTION. WORKING WITH SUCH A GREAT COMPANY LIKE RIVER ISLAND ALLOWED US NOT TO HAVE TO COMPROMISE, ALLOWING US TO DELIVER AN END PRODUCT THAT WAS A THOUGHTFUL ECLECTIC RANGE OF CLOTHING FOR THAT MODERN DAY FELLA”.

The 13 piece collection consisting of outerwear and tailoring infuse the modern with tradition and are among the hero pieces within the range, including a navy/ blue mesh technical Mac with nylon sleeves and oversized zip-pockets creates a modern contrast of texture and colour. Classic tailoring is highlighted in the navy twill blazer and trouser, which can be teamed with the white mixed panel shirt to create a smart separates look.

A tale of two Factories – Grenson X New Balance

imageWhen the Global athletics brand New Balance approach the traditional British bench-made shoe makers Grenson and they come together to redefine the premium sneaker collaboration, with the Made in England 576GRB, surely only a thing of pure beauty can result from this encounter ?

Manufactured across both Grenson’s Northampton factory, and New Balance’s UK factory in Flimby, Cumbria, which then take advantage of the years of expertise and  utilise the craftsmanship, know how  and premium materials of both parties, the 576GRB is a collaboration in the truest sense of the word.

Grenson’s best Italian grade A calf-skin leather has been expertly worked into the 576 pattern at Flimby, before being shipped back to the craftsmen at Grenson to apply their signature burnishing and broguing details and essential giving them one last once over.

The components are then returned to the New Balance factory to be assembled by their skilled workers into the final sneaker. This project is one of New Balance’s most ambitious ever sneakers to make, due to the complexity and delicacy of the process, the 576GRB represents a new benchmark and yardstick in luxury athletic footwear.
