You have to experience the bad to appreciate the good – Triumph & Disaster

‘If you can meet with Triumph & Disaster and treat those two imposters just the same. Now not only is this a line from Rudyard Kipling’s seminal poem ‘IF’ but was also the inspiration for the excellent grooming range Triumph & Disaster. A framed example of the Poem was given to a 13 year old Dion Nash, (below) founder of the brand, by his Father, in the midst of those terrible teen years, you know, the slamming of doors, the stomping upstairs, the”I Hate you” moments, but the words and gesture always stuck with Nash.

Throughout his time as an international cricketer, having represented New Zealand for a nearly a decade. Dion’s passion for skincare dates back to his long days spent enduring sun, wind and sweat whilst toiling away at professional sport. This industrial exposure to the effects that environment has on skin formed Dion’s initial skincare regimen and later the basis for Triumph and Disaster’s ethos around how to look after and protect our bodies most valuable asset – our skin. Since founding Triumph & Disaster in April 2011, Dion has worked to the brand’s philosophy of, to use the best of science combined with the best of nature to produce naturally derived but scientifically engineered products that work.

Nash continues to evolve and develop The brand’s internal ideology to ensure what we put on our skin and how we protect it from the environment, utilises the latest green science with proven, effective, natural ingredients to deliver performance.

Hero products and personal favourites within the range include the great Gameface Moisturiser, a tool to protect you against the elements. Specifically engineered to be light on the skin and easily absorbed, Gameface is a unique formulation of Jojoba extract, Horopito oil, Ponga fern (Cumingii) and Vitamin E, combined with a subtle infusion of essential oils to deliver a fragrance they call ‘smoke and wood’. The result is a nutrient rich, hydrating cream that will leave skin feeling toned, supple and fresh.

Another great is the Old-Fashioned Shave Cream reminding us that shaving is a skill passed down from generation to generation and as such, a thing of true value, like a good piece of advice. It’s part ritual, part preparation, all ‘you’ time. Triumph & Disaster’s shave cream delivers a great shave without the any of the nasties we now frown upon. Unique aromas of old school medicinal notes, bright, fresh citrus tones and a hint of Turkish barbershop at the back end, evoke a sense of tradition and nostalgia befitting a gentleman’s morning ritual.

Plus, great for gifting, is such gift set as “ON THE ROAD”. Created in the spirit of a seasoned traveller – lightweight, compact and ready to go. This ‘ON THE ROAD’ offering from the brand will ensure you are clean faced, clean shaven and well prepared for the path ahead, whatever it may hold.
