WARDROBE ESSENTIALS – The Cashmere Knit

The weather’s on the turn, but stay positive Christmas is coming and soon the big day will be upon us, yes we can party just like it’s our Birthday, rather than Jesus’s and we all know what that means, don’t we ? PRESENTS !

Dont be disappointed come the 25th, drop hints for something you want rather than having to do that whole, “Ahhh thanks” and mask that whole utter devastation when you receive a three pack of Novelty Doctor Who socks, a DIY manual and a gift Set of Brut. Go for something you’ve had your eye on and that you’ll actually use.

A piece of Cashmere knitwear is a must for any well dress gentleman and it goes equally well with jeans and weekend wear as it does when teamed up with a shirt and suit for a more formal occasion. It’s one of those luxury investment pieces that you should try and stretch your budget as far as your wallet will let you. Basically the Golden rule with Cashmere is, you look after it and it’ll look after you for many years to come.

We caught up with Sam Denny-Hodson of Great British Cashmere brand HOMESPUN who filled us in on some of the facts about the qualities of cashmere. “Great cashmere, like great wine, will never be cheap but you should get good value for money as they should become favourite pieces that just get softer and better with wear.”

SAM’S TOP 3 TIPS FOR CARING FOR OUR CASHMERE:

1) THE BEST QUALITY CASHMERE SHOULD BE WASHED AT 30 DEGREES IN A MACHINE AS HAND WASHING (& PARTICULARLY WRINGING OUT) CAN CAUSE GARMENTS TO BECOME MISSHAPEN.

2) NEVER HANG WET CASHMERE…ALWAYS DRY FLAT ON A CLEAN TOWEL.

3) IF YOU CHOOSE TO STORE YOUR CASHMERE IN PLASTIC ZIP LLC BAGS (I DON’T BOTHER) MAKE SURE IT’S BONE DRY AS ANY MOISTURE CAN CAUSE THE NATURAL HAIR TO SMELL!
