Wanted Dead or Alive – Outlaws by Belstaff staring David Beckham

Screen Shot 2015-09-20 at 15.27.39Contrary to belief and much denial from himself, David Beckham is not about to start a whole new career as a Hollywood A-lister, however, the evidence does seem to point otherwise. In a recent interview with, on-line retailer MRPORTER, Beckham insisted, “It’s something that I’ve dipped myself into from time to time, but I only did it for a friend, Guy,” he continued. “I did a small bit in The Man from UNCLE and I’ve done a little bit more for him in King Arthur and then obviously there’s what we’ve done with the Outlaws”.

So the friend in question is none other than Director and former Mr Madonna, Guy Ritchie, referring to his recent Blockbuster ‘The Man from UNCLE’ and his upcoming offering ‘Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur’. All sounding very actor like to me so far and what is the Outlaws ? Some reference to Victoria’s family ? I certainly hope not !

Screen Shot 2015-09-20 at 15.26.41Well it is in fact a short film produced by British luxury lifestyle brand, Belstaff, who David currently works as the face and ambassador for. Shot on location in Mexico, the film is written and directed by Geremy Jasper. The synopsis for the film informs us, “Outlaws is a surreal film within a film starring The Stranger, a mysterious drifter and motorcycle stuntman, haunted by memories of a beautiful Trapeze Artist and hunted by a maniacal Director seeking revenge”.

The cast includes David Beckham, Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice) soon to be seen in Danny Boyle and Aaron Sorkin’s Steve Jobs and JK Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Cathy Moriarty (Raging Bull) ohh yes and a guy called, Harvey Keitel (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs).

“Outlaws,” is released globally today.

Dressed to Kill – Spy Style

We seem to have our first trend for 2015 already in ‘Spy Style’, this year we’ll see the release of such movies as, the questionable, Johnny Depp vehicle Mortdecai, later on, what looks from the cast and titbits we’ve seen AMAZING, James Bond’s Spectre. But, first up is the dashing, daring and what looks like a bloody good romp, Matthew Vaughn’s, Kingsman(see trailer above).

So what do all of these films have in common ? The suave, sophistication and general Dapper elegance of Her Majesty’s Secret Service. The British Spy network has been the source of countless iconic films over the decades, not just the undeniably stylish Bond Series, but Michael Caine’s, Harry Palmer, John Le Carrè’s Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, the wonderful The 39 Steps and of course who could forget Richard Burton as Alec Leamas in The Spy who came in from the Cold. Literally just a few examples, where the shadowy world of intelligence and counter intelligence have served as entertainment to whet our appetite.

The latest in this long line to join the ranks in the Spy movie genre is Kingsman, a film directed by Matthew Vaughn(Layer Cake, Kick Ass and X-Men:First Class) and hosting a stella cast including Messers, Colin Firth, Samuel L.Jackson, Mark Strong and Micheal Caine, but get ready for it, cameos by Elton John, David Beckman and Lady Freakin Gaga !

As part of the launch of this movie treat, and in somewhat of a first in cinema history an entire bespoke 60-piece collection designed in collaboration and exclusively with MrPORTER‘s Buying Director Toby Bateman, Matthew Vaughn and award-winning Costume Designer Arianne Phillips including suiting, outerwear, shirting, knitwear and accessories made from the best of British cloth and from the best of British craftsmanship. The range includes: Kingsman original tailoring; Kingsman by Bremont timepieces; Kingsman by Turnbull & Asser shirting and pyjamas; Kingsman by Cutler & Gross eyewear; Kingsman by George Cleverley shoes; Kingsman by Drake’s ties and pocket squares; Kingsman by Swaine Adeney Brigg umbrella and leather accessories; with additional product from partner brands including Mackintosh, Corgi, Deakin & Francis, Lock & Co Hatters, Conway Stewart and Smythson.

The Top 5 Style icons – A Barbour shared post

I don’t think its going to come as any shock revelation to say we are big fans of the British Heritage brand Barbour here at Clothes Make The Man, well guess what, they’re fans of us too. So much so they recently asked use to contribute to their blog who we saw as our top five style icon. Easy, says you, well not as easy as you may think as the label STYLE ICON is a term pinned to people all to easily and quickly in modern menswear today, in the same way that Genius is banded about in contemporary language. No sooner has a pop star, footballer or reality TV celeb employed the services of a decent Stylist who selects a suit for them from Savile Row, encourages them to go for a classic haircut that flatters their features and won over a couple of the weekly women’s mags in the “SACK THE STYLIST” features then they are being crown with the accolade of Style icon. If only it was truly that easy, what we are going to look at today is five TRUE style icons in every sense of the word. Men who have really left their foot print in the DNA of mens style and will be remembered for their sartorial splendour and dapper style for eons to come.

Screen Shot 2013-02-13 at 15.45.061)    David Beckham – He’s come a long way baby, this Leytonstone Eastender from humble beginnings, has transformed the world of style and no one has influenced the everyday man more in the style stakes and pushed him to experiment or even try, when it comes to an introduction to fashion and his wardrobe. From the moment Beckham made his professional football debut in 1992 for Manchester United, he was known equally for making headlines for what and how he was wearing, as the goals he was scoring. Barbers the world over watched Beckham with bated breath as they knew, if he changed his hairstyle so would legions of men, whether it was a change of colour or cut, if Beckham had it so would scores of blokes.

Additionally, clothing retailers fight furiously for a piece of Brand Beckham, from Armani, Dolce & Gabbana to Marks & Spencer and H&M, as they know his Midas touch is literally worth its weight in golden revenue.

Screen Shot 2013-02-13 at 15.47.142) James Dean – Not only an eternal Style and cultural icon but defined what it was to be a Rebel without a cause. The saying, “The brightest stars burn out the fastest,” must have had James Dean in mind. He was only alive for 24 short years but what a legacy he left behind, three films, which have gone on to become classics in every way possible, defined his career, East of Eden, Rebel without a Cause and Giant. Dean has been used a stylish reference point  for countless examples over the years including from Fonzie in the TV show Happy days to Morrisey in his Suedehead video. The words James Dean and icon are like hand and glove, they just go together.

Wear it like Beckham – H&M Bodywear’s new David Beckham Ad – Competition Time

Beckham 1Regardless of whether you’re a Manchester United Fan, Paris Saint Germain, LA Galaxy, Arsenal or even Melchester Rovers, you can’t dispute the fact that Mr Beckham is a rather sickeningly good looking man. So when I was asked to attend a screening

Messers Beckham & Ritchie

Messers Beckham & Ritchie

of his new TV Ad campaign, directed by none other then Guy Ritchie, yes the ex-Mr Ciccone, I kinda had preconceived expectations as to it was going to be like, Black & white, arty angles and in all honesty well and truly up its own arse, if I be so frank. Now what I didn’t expect was a great classic Ad, showing Beckham’s true self deprecating side and essentially well and truly taking the Michael out of himself (please judge for yourselves below). Now, all this is to promote, as though it needed it, the new Spring collection of David Beckham’s Bodywear range, or to us mere mortals, underwear, in partnership with H&M launching today. New colours added to the collection including more utility tones and the range will be sold in around 1800 H&M stores in 40 countries around the world plus on hm.com, so I think you might be able to get them. But if you are in doubt, we at Clothes make the man have managed to get a hold of 10 pairs of these underwear, kindly modelled by young Dave above, for the first 10 lucky people to sign up to follow Clothes make the man
