Forget your Crazy Horses & Wild Stallions its all about Flying Horse Jeans

_MG_4577 copyDenim brands are pretty much two a penny these days and to try and achieve stand out amongst this ever so crowded market is a tall order, but Flying Horse Jeans are a British denim brand specialising in Indigo dyeing and a unique construction of denim apparel. The brand is inspired by nomadic sun soaked travels throughout the islands of South East Asia and their ability to create really amazing indigo washes through different dyeing processes.

The brand was founded in October 2010 by friends David Rix and Sanjay Madan, who met whilst working together on a previous assignment and came up with the idea of a new denim brand based on the lifestyle concept of nomadic adventures around Asia. David has over 18 years of design experience working with the likes of Ralph Lauren and Abercrombie & Fitch. Whereas Sanjay has been in the jeans manufacturing industry for over 30 years and owns a factory in Thailand where the brand is produced.

Stepping out from behind their womenswear and standing well and truly on their own two feet is River Island Menswear. Looking really strong for the Autumn, if you haven't checked them out for a while, give it a go.

Great Scott ! John Lewis's John Lewis & co range has gone explorer-tastic for Autumn. Great wearable range, just not sure about the model.

I hate saying things, like, Ohh saving the best til last, as we are really spoilt as consumers for Autumn & WInter this year. The retailers on our high Streets have really increased the bar on the whole. But this is a collection where I actually said I want it all ! The Marks & Spencer Best of Britain Range is fantastic, nuff said !

Inspiration for Summer Footwear – Pointer

Screen Shot 2013-07-15 at 19.19.28You know, its a bit like buses, you wait for ages for one to come then, a whole bunch comes all at the same time. Well, thats what this year’s Summer has been like, we’ve waited for ages then all of a suddenly there’s no let up ! We’ve not had any need for anything near Summer footwear all year, so when it does finally arrive we have a look in our shoe drawer and we have a sorry looking pair of Havaianas and a smelly old pair of trainers, it doesn’t cut the mustard, now does it ?

Screen Shot 2013-07-15 at 19.18.56As always Clothes-Make-the-Man are on hand to offer indispensable advice and in today’s post its in the shape of Pointer
Footwear
. Established in 2004 in London, Pointer was created with the aim of making simple and considered well-designed casual shoes as an alternative to technical trainers and various limited edition sneakers.

Today, almost a decade on they still hold true to the same vision. Creating high quality footwear, through meticulous attention to detail and a playful fascination for shape and colour. Life, in all it’s diversity is a key inspiration for the brand, from art and music, right down to their daily breakfast. Pointer employ people they like, that in turn inspire them, so from artists to interns,
friends, accomplices, agents and distributors from around the globe. They play with the classics, mixing materials, patterns and
geometric shapes to create their own interpretation and ideal of the footwear they would like to wear themselves.

Daniel Wellington – A man who leaves a good impression

Screen Shot 2013-07-15 at 14.46.11Strange story, but there often tend to be the best ones. Filip Tysander, the man behind the brand, was on a trip half way around the world, when he met the intriguing gentleman, who had the inspiring ability to be gentlemanly but still relaxed and unpretentious. He had an impeccable style, and loved to wear his Rolex on old weathered Nato straps. His name? Well, Daniel Wellington, of course. What’s a Nato strip I hear you cry ? Well, essentially, Nato straps originate from the British navy, where divers would use the strong nylon straps over their wet suits. Even though they were originally made to avoid rust, we love the look and versatility of them.

Back to story, do keep up, a strong friendship emerged between the two travellers and Tysander was inspired not only by this man’s many great life stories but also by his class and timeless style of fashion. As we now know, he was so inspired that he decided to name his line of watches after him.

Wellington’s style of mixing, particular when it came to his watches, leaves such as impression on Tysander that he wanted to incorporate the idea into a line of watches. However, he felt it important to make the watch thin and elegant – he wanted a clean design, without too many features, that would look good with the different patterns and colours of the classic Nato straps.

Slowly but surely, a beautiful watch emerged. Slimline, refined and perfectly round.
