It’s day 4 and the last day of LC:M A/W 16. It has been a wonderful week for British fashion, from the well established brands to the young and upcoming designers; it is clear that the whole world is taking notice once again, of the creative talent that has come from these shores. And of course, we can’t forget the stylish figures that have created a buzz and demand for street style photography. On to the next one.
Continuing on from our coverage of the first day of London Collections Men, we took again to the streets of London where creatives in the fashion industry have gathered for the second and third day. Now in its eighth season, the biannual men’s fashion event continues to host an impressive and varied line-up of both emerging and established talent.
Friday marked the first day of London Collections Men, and creatives in the fashion industry have gathered for the release of various designers’ AW 2016 release. We took to the shows and presentations and looked at what people were wearing for the first day of men’s fashion week.
“The British Rivers Collection” is the latest line from British Accessories brand Chapman bags. The collection is inspired by Chapmans Cumbrian roots but as always, is fully functional for urban life in the city.
As is the standard with Chapman this collection is made in their Cumbrian factory and stays true to their ethos of making bags that are of great quality, practical and stylish. The British Rivers Collection, is no exception and plays homage to Chapman Bags origins as a manufacturer of angling and shooting bags, with each bag being named after a great British river. This collection represents a meeting of country life and city living with bags that come in more natural earthy tones, finished with brown leather handle and detailing which is synonymous with shooting bags. Modern features that brings this collection form country to the city are that all the bags come with padded technology compartments, perfect for laptops and computers whilst featuring a more robust, sleeker design with sharper edges which fit in with the aesthetics of city life.
The British rivers collection is designed to give the feel of a country bag whilst retaining all the practicality required by a contemporary stylish man. All the bags in the new collection are specified in a British dyed and shower proofed 18oz canvas twill, feature leather handles, detailing, brushed nickel hardware and extra smooth running zips. The collection is available in two colours Olive and Khaki. Key Pieces in the Collection are the Bovey Briefcase and the Itchen iBag. The Bovey briefcase is a slimline briefcase with one padded main compartment suitable for laptops or tablets measuring up to 13”. It also has multiple slip compartments for designed for storing papers to stop them getting crushed as well as having a detachable and adjustable shoulder strap. The Itchen iBag is a compact shoulder bag perfect for carrying essentials when travelling or working. It features a rear compartment with a popper fastener which is large enough to fit in an iPad Air or a tablet of similar size.
Over the next week or so millions of people up and down the country will be stressing about, not making a fool of themselves this year, not to drink too much, where the actual venue is, how will they get home and most importantly what will they wear to this year’s Christmas Party !!!!! A tradition as old as Good St. Nick himself.
However, there are a couple of rules you need to be aware of when it comes to dressing for this annual event, no not flirting with your Boss’s wife and no, we really don’t need to mention a photocopier ! Let’s keep this Sartorial.
We sort the wise words of a couple of experts on menswear to ask for their advise on dressing for an outing of this nature.
“Leave the sparkle to the Christmas tree.. Less is more! Christmas is not an excuse to turn the ‘novelty’ on its better to stay chic, forget it’s Christmas and just approach it in the same way you would any evening social gathering with friends.” Adrian Clark, ShortList – Style Director
