A thoroughly British brand – Gloverall

In 1950, just five years after World War II, Gloves and Overall wholesalers H&F Morris, owned by Harold and Freda Morris, found success selling surplus military duffle coats. This prompted Harold, a master tailor’s son, and Freda to launch Gloverall, creating their own refined duffle coats. Harold innovated by replacing the thick jute rope fastenings with leather straps and adding an Italian check back fabric, setting a new standard in outerwear.

Since the beginning, Gloverall has placed a premium on sourcing the finest fabrics and producing products within the United Kingdom.

In 1957, Gloverall’s iconic Monty Duffle coat gained fame when Tony Brooks was photographed wearing it alongside racing legends Stirling Moss and Mike Hawthorn at the Monaco Grand.

In a thrilling recent development, Gloverall’s Mid Monty Duffle Coat was featured in the latest series of Doctor Who. This iconic coat, known for its durability and classic design, perfectly complements the eclectic style of the new Doctor, portrayed by Ncuti Gatwa.

Engineered Footwear – Red Wing X Engineered Garments

Since 1905, Red Wing Shoes has never wavered in the commitment to quality. By combining the finest leathers and premium materials with uncompromising craft, Red Wing Heritage continues to build upon a legacy of USA-made excellence to create iconic lifestyle footwear. The boots built today are as enduring as the archival styles they are inspired from.

Equally, Engineered Garments was founded by Daiki Suzuki in New York in 1999, after taking inspiration from his years buying for the Nepenthes stores in their early stages, and combining it with his own vision. As a brand, our aim is to make garments that become more personal through the experiences you have with them. We value unique garment construction with attention to detail, with meaning and hidden qualities behind each design. We venture into conflicting themes, straying from “perfect design”. We are not designed but engineered.

So when the Red Wing Heritage design team sat down with Engineered Garments, the renowned Japanese-American brand founder, Daiki Suzuki,  they shared their passion for design, quality and special materials. Daiki always wanted to work on a Red Wing Classic, and it was the rebirth of the oxford moc toe “The Shop Moc” that caught his eye. Working with different leathers and adding a storm welt to the moc toe the EG Shop Moc was born.

The Shop Moc Oxford is a shoe that can be traced back to style no. 895 when the oxford version first appeared in the Red Wing Shoe catalog in 1954; just two years after the release of the iconic 8-in Classic Moc. Today, the Shop Moc Oxford draws inspiration from this style and its iconic best-selling siblings at taller heights. This limited edition collection features storm welt construction, Puritan triple stitching, Traction Tred outsole, and leather insole with an added heel pad for comfort. Several leather colors and textures create the easy, ankle- height oxford that delivers in a premium shoe bag and archive-inspired Irish Setter branded box.

Storm welt construction is a method used in the making of boots and shoes to connect the upper to the sole. The Storm welt is a slight modification of the Goodyear welt, designed for rougher climates and used by Red Wing Shoes since the 1920s. Rather than stitching the leather welt flat between the midsole and upper, the leather welt is split and attached to the upper and midsole in a way that blocks out rain and water.

Traction Tred is undoubtedly the most iconic and well-known Red Wing Shoes outsole with a history of more than 60 years. The soft, yet durable material provides all-day comfort and the unique zig-zag pattern offers traction while leaving mud and dirt behind. Today, the men’s Heritage Traction Tred outsole offers a natural grip with styrene-butadiene blown rubber from Vibram.

Fragrant Denim – Mr Black’s Garment Essentials

MR.BLACK 2We have many things to thank our antipodium cousins for, not only filling our TV channels with countless quality daytime soap operas, the cultural design greats of Ken Done and crocodile Dundee, Dame Kylie Minogue, The King Sisters and now we have a true wonder of the Southern Hemisphere, Mr Black Denim Refresh and Denim Wash.

As we all know when we purchase a pair of denim jeans, they are never quite the same after we wash them, in fact, leading denim manufacturers recommend raw and dry denim not to be washed for up to six months, and minimum washing from then on. This allows the denim to develop an individual character, and with non-frequent washing it will acquire a fabulous natural look. Now, Mr Black’s Garment Essentials care range shares the same ethos, and has created unique formulas to prolong unwashed jeans.

Denim refresh is an all-in-one product designed to clean and refresh, that prevents stains from settling in your denim. Denim refresh gets to the root of the problem by attacking down the oils, surface dirt and bacteria that causes the odors in the first place. Using denim refresh extends the life of your denim by extending the time between washing and dry-cleaning. In fact the active ingredient was found used in morgues, nice.

When it comes time to washing your jeans, Mr. Black’s unique enzyme free wash, is specifically formulated to clean and help maintain the original color intensity of your dry denim and pre wash jeans. This highly concentrated denim soft wash offers unsurpassed cleaning action whilst minimizing fading, shrinkage or stretching.
