“Many things, like environment, hormones, illness, and life changing circumstances, can alter your hair and influence your hairs condition, vitality and shine, but in particular the aging process can have a detrimental effect on the hair. There are actions that can be taken from the comfort of your own home to revive the ever desired youthful boost. Ensure you eat plenty of protein and maintain a balanced diet. You can also apply hair treatments weekly with gentle massage to your scalp to stimulate the blood supply to the hair follicle, encouraging healthy hair growth! imageHealthy hair
“No matter what your hair style is, healthy hair is always considered the height of fashion. However the modern day lifestyle can take its toll on you and your hair. Many things, like environment, hormones, over styling & colouring, can alter your hair and influence your hairs condition, vitality and shine. Importantly, it is essential to have a regular professional maintenance programme for your hair, to maintain condition and style with cutting, colouring and treatments, To find out more about how to boost your hairs vitality, visit www.viviscal.co.uk/hairlosshelp or www.managing hairloss.com

imageStress
“It is not surprising that stress is a cause of hair loss. So many of us now can’t avoid stress in our lives and deal with traumatic situations everyday for example; the demanding pressure from work. During these periods the pressure can have an adverse effect on our hair. Feelings of lethargy and irritability makes the body’s immune system become venerable and our nutritional intake changes due to bad diet habits during these periods, this can create fine weak dull and lifeless hair, which could result in a hair shedding. During stress our bodies are releasing chemicals that transmit messages to the hair follicles, entering them into a resting phase. This can have an effect on the normal hair growth cycle. By entering into and remaining at this resting stage for a longer period of time this will affect the density of hair, shedding of an abnormal amount of hair on a daily bases will show as you may notice wider partings and less hair in a ponytail”.

The scent of Adventure – Acqua di Parma’s new Fragrance Colonia Ambra

imageAcqua di Parma is one of those brands that just gets it right with everything they do. It’s almost like they are a benchmark for luxury. From their packaging, their products to their shopping experience, if luxury had a scent surely Acqua di Parma would have bottled it by now.

The same can be said for their latest grooming collection, following on from Colonia Oud and Colonia Leather, it continues its journey through the Middle East, Colonia draws the rich sensory footprint of Agarwood oil that brings to life the sensuous, mysterious notes of Colonia Oud – a fragrance combining the symbolic essence of the richest Arabian perfume-making traditions with the freshness of classic Italian Colonia. However, a passionate and painstaking exploration can unveil genuine treasures even closer to home, such as beautiful Tuscany, the source of inspiration for Colonia Leather, a composition that captures and combines the scent of leather with the citrus notes of Colonia. Like some tale through time with Marco Polo, along the intriguing routes of the Silk Road we travel from Venice through Damascus, Bukhara, and Samarkand – also known as the Rome of the East – to boundless China, and then far-away Madagascar, mysterious India, and the fabulous Moluccan Islands.

The primary ingredient and source of inspiration for this scent is like Perfume-making, itself, it’s a subtle art packed with secrets. One of these is ambergris. An extremely rare ingredient and an essential component of the most exquisite fragrances, ambergris is characterized by peculiar marine notes, originating from the action of the ocean and of the wind, together lulling it for many years before it is deposited on remote beaches. This new fragrance, Colonia Ambra is an unprecedented interpretation of this rare essence, skilfully combined with the typical fresh citrus notes of Colonia.

An original and elegant fragrance born from the unprecedented combination of two strongly assertive olfactory themes – the citrus notes of Colonia blended with the deep and seductive notes of ambergris. This particular Colonia deriving from a well-balanced combination of orange oil, bergamot, and petit grain. There follows a warm heart of notes then the woody accents of nagarmotha and cedar wood are blended with the delicate, yet vibrant notes of rosewood. The heart closes on the earthy and musky notes of patchouli that perfectly announce the main ingredient of the fragrance – ambergris. Here Colonia Ambra develops into a surprising base, a true first, with the introduction of ambergris tincture, a rare and precious ingredient whose intense sensual notes, enhanced by sandalwood and warmed up by soft vanilla accents, unveil the unique personality of this precious Eau de Cologne.

Dominique Ropion COLOGNE INDELEBILE by Frédéric Malle

imageWhen an industry insider with over 20 years experience and is a person who’s opinion you trust and value, informs you that he needs to introduce to the best fragrence he’s ever smelt. You kinda stop what you were doing and sit up and listen.

This is the case with Frédéric Malle‘s latest creation To the Editions de Parfums family,  COLOGNE INDELEBILE. Malle grew up immersed in the world of perfumery; his grandfather, Serge Heftler, was most notably the founder of the legendary French house Parfums Christian Dior. Malle started his own career in 1986, at the prestigious perfume creation labs Roure Bertrand Dupont. Over the years, he acquired a profound knowledge of the raw materials of which perfumes are composed, as well as a strong sense of olfactory balance. Simply, he is an “evaluator,” the professional term defining a specialist whose deep understanding of fragrance structure and accords enables him to critique a perfume’s composition.

His contribution to the creation of the different fragrances sold under the Editions de Parfums varies depending on the nose’s personal desire. Perfumers call on him to assess their works in progress and to exchange ideas. His involvement depends on the project and ranges from total non-intervention to sleeves-rolled-up creative partnerships with the noses.

In this collaborative instance a simple seed of an idea while Frédéric was in conversation with Dominique Ropion, who like Malle honed his craft at Roure Bertrand Dupont. This was enough to entice Mr. Ropion (who despite his large body of work had never worked on a cologne) to concentrate his creative might on a future interpretation of this classic perfume.

The first trials of this fragrance were so dangerously sexy that they would have probably satisfied most; but the perfectionist and craftsman in Ropion thought that he could go further and turn the scent into a “classic”. The final perfume is made mostly from an assemblage of modern musk oils interlaced with Orange Flower, Neroli, Lemon and Bergamot. It embraces musk’s nature as both a aphrodisiac and a scent of purity to create a very personal interpretation of Eau de Cologne, the result being a scent that endures, and endures, and endures… Cologne Indélébile (Permanent Cologne).
