Terry Markham is honest enough to admit that he didn’t know the difference between a quartz movement and a self-winding movement of a watch when he started out in his career as a sales associate with SDK Jewellers in Reading in 2006. But, by God he soon learned, and specialised in watches within the sales team. In less than a year of his joining the company, the owner’s son, Kishore, launched a website (then known as watchshopuk), and Terry began picking and packing watches in addition to handling the shop requirements for watches.
After a brief hiatus in the automotive industry in 2007, Terry was brought back to manage the physical store, but soon began helping the directors with ordering stock for the store and the fast growing online venture now known as WatchShop.com, the UK’s leading online watch retailer.
To perpetuate Terry’s interest in all things watch like, he collects watches, from World War II until the present day, as every timepiece has subtle nuances and understanding and appreciating them allows he to explain these to a wider audience.
