6 of the Best – Bomber Jackets

imageThis Autumn there isn’t really a key coat or jacket that stands out as a leading figure or star buy, instead we have a whole host of options to choose from, whether that be the traditional crombie style overcoat, the Parka, the trench, military inspired but alot of them are great for the depths of Winter. What about when its get a bit chilly or there starts to be a nip in the air ? In the Fashion Industry this is called a transitional piece, an item of clothing that can see you through those inbetween periods when the weather isn’t too hot, chance would a fair thing, or too cold. Today I have a great example for you the BOMBER JACKET, rocked and made famous by the likes of Steve McQueen in the Great Escape, JFK busted his with far more style then then successor George W and how could we forget Ryan Gosling in the great ‘Drive’. Take a look at these great examples.

True Blue – ‘True To The Blue’ – a celebration of the denim heritage of Tommy Hilfiger

imageWhen you think of the great U S of A  you can’t help but think of denim, to be quite honest the two are pretty much synonymous with one another and think of an American Fashion designer famous for his denim, surely Tommy Hilfiger, must spring to the forefront of your mind.

Now come April 17th, the brand are launching an exclusive collection named ‘True To The Blue’ – a celebration of the denim heritage of the brand. The collection, which features styles for both men and women, pays homage to pieces from Tommy’s early ranges which were sold in his first store People’s Place (see image) back in the early 70s, as well as drawing inspiration from key denim moments throughout the brand’s history.

imageAs part of this initiative the brand are also asking people to share a throwback images of a favourite denim looks they’ve worn on their social media feed(#throwbackdenim #HilfigerDenim). All posts will be aggregated and entered into a competition, and the fan who submits the best #ThrowbackDenim image will win an all-expenses paid trip for two to California. The contest will run from April 17 to May 9.

Love Shack Babbyyyyy – Tommy Hilfiger’s Surf Shack Project

The "Surf Shack" range by Tommy Hilfiger

The “Surf Shack” range by Tommy Hilfiger

American surf culture was born in the 1960s,  the band the Beach Boys’ were hitting the Billboard charts singing of  “Surfin’ USA” , ahhh life was simple, fun, carefree. Rooted in California, the surf movement was more than a trend; it offered a new approach to sport, language, music and fashion – much of which remains true today.

For Summer 13 Tommy Hilfiger has taken inspiration for his limited edition “Surf Shack” range from the warm waters of Malibu, Australia’s Gold Coast ohhh and the more chilly Atlantic swells in Biarritz. It’s sunset drinks on the beach lit by  late-night beach bonfires and après- surf clambakes while the waves lap up at your feet. Surf Shack is about vivid living. It takes the surfers’ carefree charms and attitudes – deep tans, bright colors, boho attitudes – and adds a dash of preppy flair.

In support of Tommy Hilfiger’s ongoing partnership with the Art Production Fund (a non-profit organization dedicated to producing ambitious public art projects), the limited- edition collection is complemented by a series of unique surfboards, custom- designed by five American artists – Lola Schnabel, Richard Phillips, Scott Campbell, Gary Simmons and Raymond Pettibon – to create unique, custom- designed surfboards to complement the Surf Shack capsule collection. From pop-culture portraits to mystical abstracts and chalk-on-slate paintings, the artists have each applied their innovative, individual creative visions to the boards, which a limited number of the surfboards will be available for purchase at select Tommy Hilfiger stores worldwide, via tommy.com/artofsurf
