NikeLab has partnered with the Japanese designer brand COMME des GARÇONS to recreate a classic Nike silhouette and following its showcase at the COMME des GARÇONS Homme Plus show last October, the “invisible” Nike Lab Dunk Hi is finally being released.
Dubbed the ‘invisible shoes’, the Dunk Hi appears to draw inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen’s cult classic tale about a sorely misled emperor in search of a new wardrobe. The new release aims to address the common misconception that invisibility and transparency are one in the same.
An edgy mix of black leather and clear PVC paired with accents of comfort foam, the shoes are designed with holes for ventilation to ensure maximum breathability. While not completely “invisible,” the side panels and toebox of this NikeLab Dunk Hi allow for some serious look at what’s inside, so be careful when choosing your socks in the morning. What’s great about this feature is, this transparent look allows for those crazy patterned pairs in your drawer to shine through.
The collaboration with COMME des GARÇONS is the second basketball collaboration from Nike this month, released exclusively at the COMME des GARÇONS store in New York.
