Cole Haan x Harrods – American Shoe Label Launches in Harrods

by Keanu Adorable

Inspired by the motto “Manhattan to Maine, Invention and Reinvention”, the Chicago founded footwear label, Cole Haan recently dropped its new Spring 18 collection, and it’s a quality line up. The company launched in the UK last year and continues its expansion through the UK’s finest department stores with a new collaboration with Harrods. The brand’s showcase in Harrods is located on the Lower Ground Floor of the Men’s Shoe Salon. It features panelled surfaces in gunmetal blue and fittings wrapped in charcoal grey leather to provide a sophisticated retail backdrop for the brand, which is known for its smart shoe/sneaker hybrid based on its bespoke Grand.ØS technology.

A five-piece collection, the line-up is comprised of signature styles like the ZeroGrand with Stitchlite Wingtip Oxford are presented alongside new launches such as the GrandPro with Stichlite Runner. Cole Haan’s GrandPro Tennis in black, navy, white and brown, and the ZeroGrand Wingtip Oxford in marine blue, are also available.

Grand.ØS replaces the heavy steel shanks traditionally used for support in footwear with a modern and updated cushioning compound which is stronger, more flexible and longer lasting, reducing the overall weight and slimming down the shoe’s outsole.

The men’s GrandPrø Tennis shoe weighs less than a third of the average leather court shoe, weighing in at 250 grams (based on a men’s leather court shoe in size 8.5). Other key features of the footwear are: an operating system designed to mimic the foot’s natural flexibility and light-weight foam footbed cushions which support weight distribution and moisture control.

We advise you head down to Knightsbridge ASAP as these will be snapped up sooner than later. The Cole Haan brand is also available for men and women on its UK website.

Words by Keanu Adorable

In the modern day of fashion, we believe that everyone should be equal, and when it comes to footwear, we understand that men get the upper hand when it comes to footwear collection launches. We believe that everyone should get a chance to own a pair of sneakers no matter who they are. It is the 21st century after all! That’s where brands like Twelvesons are stepping up to give people an opportunity to express themselves through fashion and let people feel free and creative in their own skin. With the collections released in instalments with the monikers ‘Art 1’ to ‘Art 18’ there are plenty to choose from, and you can collect them like and build up your collection like a true sneakerhead. The Converse One Star – the comebacks on!

WORDS BY ISAAC PERRY

Converse has to be one of the greatest sneaker brands ever to have existed, originating from the great US of A, the brand has gone on to global domination, with some of their designs being the most worn sneakers over the last couple of decades.

Funnily enough the Converse footwear was never intended to be a casual shoe with early designs created for the Basketball court, but then in the early 90’s the company found themselves fully submerged in the street style scene.

The most popular design being the Chuck Taylor, one of the most recognisable shoes of all time, however in more recent times the One star has increased in popularity thanks to the onslaught of new colour ways.

The new-borne popularity also comes with much thanks to multiple celebrity endorsements and collaborations on the one star. Just to name a few; Leo Mandella (@Gullyguyleo) is the face of the new campaign for the brand as well as Tyler the creator (@feliciathegoat) collaborating on the style to create the Converse X golf le fleur.

The Converse one star hotel is open for the next two days, offering the opportunity for a peak at their most recent and unique footwear as well as offering a chance to take a look at some of the workshops available.

Celebrity guests expected to make an appearance include; ASAP Nast, Young Lean and Tizzy T, alongside social media influencer Leo Mandella.

Converse have remained with the basic styling of their shoes. Now finding themselves a must have for every wardrobe due to it being incredibly versatile and thanks to a wider colour selection now introduced, there is a one star for every look you could possibly think of, and with spring just around the corner this is a shoe we highly recommend you pick up and stay true to size with!

Bring it back – Vagabond’s Shoe Bring Back initiative

As we’ve said on a number of occasions ethical and sustainable matters are, or should be, high on the agenda of fashion brands and them being seen as a priority is going nowhere anytime soon.

Swedish footwear and accessories brand, Vagabond, who now operate internationally across 42 different countries, is now ready to launch their Shoe Bring Back initiative in all concept stores.

Shoe Bring Back is an exciting new recycling concept where people can bring in old shoes to deposit within the ‘Recycling Bin’ located in the store. Shoes which have future wear are given to charity, and those which have reached the end of their life are taken apart and recycled into new products.

In cooperation with I:Collect, the international global solutions provider for the collection, reuse and recycling of used clothing and shoes, the aim is to encourage all consumers to take responsibility for their used shoes.

A big problem with shoe consumption is that a great deal of the shoes that are being thrown away, still have a lot to give. Therefore, the most important mission for the Shoe Bring Back-project is to make sure that shoes that are still in a wearable condition are being collected to get a new life as second-hand goods, or be recycled into new products.” Says Ulrika Simonsson, CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility) Manager at Vagabond.
