164 Years in the making – Louis Vuitton’s first men’s fragrences

This week sees the launch of a new set of men’s fragrances from one of France’s oldest, well known and exciting Fashion Houses. Louis Vuitton is launching Les Parfums fragrances for Men. Having devoted his first creations to women, the Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud now takes a different path. Belltrud has created or collaborated in the creation of over 80 fragrances and perfumes for fashion house brands such as Parfums Christian Dior, Parfums Givenchy, Issey Miyake, Yves Saint Laurent and Lancôme

This time, he proposes a journey dedicated to men, delving into the heart of their instincts for freedom and their pioneering sensibility. Five exceptional fragrances pay homage to the adventurer on a quest for self-revelation.

L’Immensité blends the bitterness of grapefruit with ginger, labdanum and an overdose of ambroxan, an addictive and sensual amber note.

Nouveau Monde
is composed around a natural cocoa — produced on the Ivory Coast and transformed in Grasse. The leather compounded scent of oud mingles with cocoa and incense, all the while granting the saffron enough space to express its energy.

Orage is a woody fragrance. A short, concentrated, concise composition which is associated with the elegance of iris with a patchouli heart.

Sur la Route blends the Calabrian citrus with a very special grade of cedar. The noble note of lemon focuses on the sharpness of the pulp and the fruit. Cedar wood has added bergamot and a few blades of freshly cut grass that give the perfume its raw, green accent. Sur la Route also includes Peruvian balsam, which includes the freshness of citrus and spicy notes of pink peppercorn and nutmeg

Au Hasard elevates an exceptional sandalwood. Cultivated in Sri Lanka in keeping with sustainable development requirements, this wood contains all the qualities of the now-unattainable Indian sandalwood. The seed of ambrette, a delicate yellow flower that resembles a pansy, from whose tiny black seeds stems a perfume of pear liqueur and vegetal musk.

The bottle for these unique fragrances  has been created by the designer Marc Newson, who in the past has collaborated with such diverse brands as Apple, Smeg, Nike and Mont Blanc. For this creation he references the initial creation for the very first launch with the Women’s fragrance. This new Men’s collection features a delicately shaded color palette. Another sign makes it possible to distinguish this new collection of five men’s scents from the women’s fragrances. It can be found on the cap atop of each bottle. The two interlaced letters of the LV logo are engraved in cold galvanized metal, recalling the codes of men’s leather goods and the barrel of a shotgun.
